Speakers, television sets, DVDs and CDs have been seized from homes across Stockport in a bid to stop residents being too noisy.

The local authority has collected 1.5 tonnes (236st) of equipment from those who breach noise abatement notices.

In the past 12 months the council's environment team has received more than 1,000 complaints about excessive noise.

All items collected will be recycled, as they cannot be donated to charity, a Stockport Council spokesman said.
