Great place that never fails to produce fantastic plates of locally sourced food. Well worth a trip to and highly recommended.

Friendly front of house, good reviews and an interesting menu led to high expectations however. the food was poor. Everything seemed to be prepared earlier and quickly warmed up. The food lacked taste and texture. Not a good meal.

I and my partner went in on Thurday 21.02/08. We had meant to go for the early bird menu but arrived at 7.45. My partner ordered Goats cheese tart for starters. I tucked straigght into the rather delicious Merlot; whilst eagerly awaiting my Salted Beef main served on a bed of barley with sage dumplings. This wa beautifully presented and quite delicious. My partnes had a fish dish which he said was magnifique! I ordered the sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and dunham ice cream; sublime! My partner had the ginger desert with an array of various little bites he was so umpressed he took a picture, before eagerly devouring the lot. We felt so comfortable and relaxed we ordered another bottle of Merlot and of course were the last to leave at 10.45. A great evening possiblly more suited to special occasions; I say this as the final total was ???83, a little pricey for a Thursday but this was due to my other halfs taste in wine 2 bottles ???37. A lovely little gem, great food and ambiance. Well worth a try.

I'm glad I didn't read the reviews on here before I went to Isinglass yesterday or I may have been put off going to one of the best restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of dining in. The staff were polite and unobtrusive and the ambience was relaxed and intimate. I had the peppered steak to start and the salmon and prawn paupiette for my main, both of which were cooked to perfection and completely delicious. there were a myriad of flavours in both dishes that tantalised the palate. We shared the brownie dessert, which was again delicious with a chilli and chocolate soup and white chocolate mousse. Although the meal wasn't cheap, I didn't find it too expensive considering the quality of the food. I would highly recommend Isinglass for a special occassion and I personally couldn't find fault with anything.

Me and my family have been to a number of amazing resturants (and some poor ones at that). The Isinglass tops the list of poor resturants! We arrived at 7, just on time and were told to wait until the table before us had finished (they had only just recieved their meal may I add) we were told to go 'to a bar or somthing'. Frankly, the area was not very nice so we had to wait in the car. after 45 minutes we went back, and were seated at a table which had all the dirty plates still on it... which wasn't pleasent. After 10 minutes with still no service I saw a waitress lighting candles on an empty table. Fuming, I walked out of the restaurant. The waitress didnt even say sorry, she stood there looking gormless. I was not happy with their service but I cannot comment on the food as we didn't wait around to sample it. Oh and for the the reviewers who try and patronise people who have given bad reviwes by saying 'well you must have been at the wrong resturant...' I think I know what resturant I went to thank you very much
