Very bohemian and free from some of the more pretentious Manc drinkers. Odd is my new fav bar of the moment. A prefect place to chill-lax with beers from Eastern Europe and too listen to great music.
This is a literal blend of styles from across the world and from random people's nik-nak collections. The brainchild of Cleo Fornam, she has stated that she wanted to blend all of the places that she had visited on her travels into one bar to create the ultimate space to chill out in. Blending Moroccan and Indian themes into the decor the bar has a warm feel, transmitted by all the deep reds and big cusions draped over the corner sofas. To further keep the clientele feeling at home Cleo has come up with the novel idea of decorating the place with people's collectables, kitsch souvenirs of her own and generous donations from others. Amongst this collection is a smattering of Betty Page posters, a golden cupid and a furry moose head (?). Tacky though this sounds, the space still manages to look organised and artful in the way that many of the newer Northern Quarter bars are aspiring to. A welcome, eclectic addition to this developing area.
Shortly after the Heaton Park was bought by Manchester Corporation the tramway was extended into the park and the first tram arrived on 31 May 1903...
