Paul Walters needs a slap. The other 2 reviews are awesome. This one is just stereotyping the people who go in this pub..not everyone who like this pub and go there on a regular basis have seriously baggy clothes, dreadlocks, and piercings.people don't judge people in this pub, as long as they like a drink and some rock/metal music, they're fine. This pub is one of my favourite places to hang out, its a great place to chill and drink with awesome music and friendly staff

Grand Central is, essentially, a pub for rockers, metalheads, bikers and anyone is isn't out to judge others because of how they dress or what music they listen to. The jukebox is awesome, with a great selection of bands to choose from including Lamb Of God, Led Zepellin, Machine Head, Rammstein and System Of A Down. Beer prices are average, but I suppose it's the middle of town so it's not guna be cheap. About 2.50 for a pint of lager. Everyone is really friendly, just make sure you bring your ID if you look young, because they don't mess around with under agers in this place!!Overall, a top place to start off your night.
Grand Central is not the place to go if you are judgemental close minded and have attitude! It has great friendly staff an alternative range of customers varying from local crews, bands, tattooed and tattooists, folk from all walks of life that are passionate about rock music and all it's metal elements, everyone is welcome that aren't looking to judge the rest because of how they look it's patrons are proud to be part of it and are not there to pose in pretentious surroundings!
The Grand Central is like Cheers for metalheads. Everybody seems to know everybody else here. Chris, the doorman is a well known landmark. It also helps that it tends to be the meeting point for the 'Rock Societies' of each of the nearby universities. Almost like the opposite of an exclusive members club, you'll only feel comfortable in here if you (a: have dreadlocks (b: have a piercing somewhere around your face, or (c: wear clothes which are twelve sizes too big for you and are *possibly* clowns hand-me-downs dyed black... Although there are a number of 'straights' who frequent the establisment, these are the rules. The only exceptions seem to come if you're a long term member of the 'scene'. I graduated with a lower second in grunge honours in class of '96, so I'm allowed in... just.Having said that, this pub is clearly a dive. They do it up regularly, but it always winds up looking filthy again just a few weeks later, although this *does* seem to be the way many of the locals like it. There is a certain atmosphere to the place though, so long as you can handle heavily pierced and tatooed rockers swaggering around with their roll-ups without feeling intimidated. Mostly it's a friendly pub, with cheap beers and decent staff. The jukebox is often insanely loud though, and frequently plays Pantera and Black Sabbath, so that may put a lot of non-rockers off. But all in all, for a walk on the wild side, this little hovel is worth a curious peek.
